Aventon – ACU Replacement Programming ProcedureUpdated 2 days ago

This article explains the ACU replacement programming process for compatible Aventon bikes.

Use this article if:

  • your Aventon bike has had an ACU replaced

  • your bike has had an ECU, display, or controller replaced together

  • pairing or configuration is required after replacement

  • support has instructed you to complete the ACU setup process

If you are unsure whether your bike requires this process, please contact support before continuing.

Before You Start

Prepare:

  • order number

  • Aventon model

  • photo/video of the issue

  • mobile phone with the Aventon app installed

  • bike serial number

  • photo of any QR codes shown during setup

  • confirmation of which parts were replaced

  • photos of visible damage, if any

Before starting:

  • ensure the bike battery is charged

  • ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone

  • ensure the bike powers on

  • ensure the display turns on

Safety warnings:

  • Do not open sealed electrical components.

  • Do not work on wiring while the bike is powered on or charging.

  • Stop and contact support if you are unsure.

  • Do not continue if there is visible damage, smoke, overheating, or a burning smell.

What This Procedure Does

This procedure allows the bike to complete setup and configuration after an ACU, ECU, display, or controller replacement.

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1 – Confirm Which Parts Were Replaced

Check whether the ACU, ECU, display, or controller has been replaced.

If yes

Continue to Step 2.

If no

Contact support before continuing.


Replacing the ECU, Display and Controller at the Same Time

Step 2 – Power On the Bike

Insert the battery and power on the bike.

If yes

Continue to Step 3.

If no

Please contact our support team with the photos/videos listed below so we can review the next step.


Step 3 – Open the Aventon App

Open the Aventon app on your phone.

Select the bike pairing option.

If yes

Continue to Step 4.

If no

Check your Bluetooth connection and try again.

If the issue remains, contact support.


Step 4 – Scan the QR Code

Use the Aventon app to scan the QR code shown on the bike or display.

If yes

Continue to Step 5.

If no

Take a clear photo of the QR code and contact support.


Step 5 – Complete Configuration

Follow the prompts shown in the Aventon app until configuration is completed.

If yes

The setup process is complete.

If no

Continue to Step 6.


Step 6 – Check for Error Messages

Check whether the app displays an error message during setup.

If yes

Take a screenshot or photo of the error message and contact support.

If no

Retry the setup process.

If the issue remains, contact support.


Replacing the ECU, Display and Controller at the Same Time Using the Power Adapter Cable

Step 7 – Connect the Power Adapter Cable

Connect the provided power adapter cable to the ECU.

If yes

Continue to Step 8.

If no

Do not force the connection. Contact support.


Step 8 – Power On the Bike

Insert the battery and power on the bike.

If yes

Continue to Step 9.

If no

Contact support.


Step 9 – Open the Aventon App

Open the Aventon app and begin the bike pairing process.

If yes

Continue to Step 10.

If no

Check Bluetooth is enabled and retry.

If the issue remains, contact support.


Step 10 – Scan the QR Code

Use the Aventon app to scan the QR code shown during setup.

If yes

Continue to Step 11.

If no

Take a photo of the QR code and contact support.


Step 11 – Complete Configuration

Follow the prompts shown in the app until configuration is completed.

If the issue clears

The setup process is complete. Monitor the bike during normal use.

If the issue remains

Error Messages

Configuration Error

If the app displays a configuration error:

  • retry the setup process

  • ensure Bluetooth remains enabled

  • ensure the bike remains powered on

Incomplete Bike Information

If the app displays incomplete bike information:

  • retry the setup process

  • ensure the QR code was scanned clearly

When To Contact Support

Contact support if:

  • the bike will not pair

  • the QR code cannot be scanned

  • configuration cannot be completed

  • the app displays repeated error messages

  • the bike does not power on

  • the display does not power on

  • Bluetooth pairing fails repeatedly

  • there is visible damage

  • the bike has been exposed to water, crash, impact, transport damage, modification, or third-party repair

  • you are unsure how to complete a step safely
