This article explains the mandatory replacement process for the Aventon Abound LR Handrail V1 assembly.

Please prepare the following:

  • full bike serial number

  • clear photos of the handrail assembly

  • confirmation of whether the bike is currently being used or is unsold inventory

  • dealer or store information if applicable

Safety Warnings

  • Do not continue riding if the handrail is loose, damaged, cracked, or improperly mounted.

  • Do not modify the frame or mounting points.

What This Issue Means

Certain Aventon Abound LR bikes fitted with the Handrail V1 assembly require the revised replacement handrail unit.

The original Handrail V1 assembly must be removed and made permanently unusable before the new replacement unit is installed.

Troubleshooting and Replacement Steps

Step 1 – Confirm Your Bike Uses the Handrail V1 Assembly

Check whether your bike is fitted with the Abound LR Handrail V1 assembly.

If yes

Continue to Step 2.

If no

No further action is required unless advised by support.

If the issue clears

Monitor the bike during normal use.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 2.


Step 2 – Remove the Existing Handrail V1 Assembly

Remove the original Handrail V1 assembly from the bike.

Inspect the mounting tabs once removed.

If yes

Continue to Step 3.

If no

If you are unsure how to safely remove the handrail:

If the issue clears

Continue monitoring the bike after replacement.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 3.


Step 3 – Permanently Disable the Removed Handrail Assembly

The removed Handrail V1 assembly must be made completely unusable.

Break the handrail mounting tabs so the assembly cannot be reinstalled onto a bike.

Use the acceptable break points shown in the replacement guide images.

If yes

Take clear photos showing:

  • the broken mounting tabs

  • the full removed handrail assembly

Then continue to Step 4.

If no

Do not reinstall the removed Handrail V1 assembly.

If you are unsure whether the handrail has been correctly disabled:

  • contact support before continuing

If the issue clears

Continue to Step 4.

If the issue remains

Contact support.


Step 4 – Install the New Revised Handrail Assembly

Install the revised replacement handrail assembly onto the bike.

If yes

Check that:

  • the handrail mounts correctly

  • the handrail feels secure

  • there is no visible looseness or movement

If no

Do not continue using the bike.

If the issue clears

The replacement process has been completed successfully.

Monitor the bike during normal riding.

Step 5 – Submit the Required Information

You may be asked to provide replacement documentation and photos.

Please prepare:

  • dealer/store name if applicable

  • full frame serial number

  • photos showing the removed handrail with broken mounting tabs

  • confirmation of whether the bike was customer-owned or unsold inventory

  • contact information for the person submitting the request

If yes
