Aventon Aventure & Aventure.2 – Battery Will Not Turn Off TroubleshootingUpdated 15 hours ago

This article explains how to troubleshoot an Aventon Aventure or Aventure.2 battery that will not power off normally.

Use this article if your bike:

  • battery stays powered on

  • battery will not switch off after holding the battery button

  • battery remains active after turning the bike off

  • battery only powers off automatically after a period of time

This article applies to:

Before You Start

Prepare:

  • order number

  • Aventon model

  • photo/video of the issue

  • when the issue first appeared

  • confirmation of whether the bike powers on

  • confirmation of whether the battery powers off automatically

  • confirmation of whether the display turns on

  • confirmation of whether the issue happened after charging, riding, transport, storage, water exposure, crash, impact, modification, or third-party repair

  • photos of visible damage, if any

Safety warnings:

  • Do not continue riding if the bike has visible damage, overheating, smoke, burning smell, or water exposure.

  • Do not open sealed electrical components.

  • Do not work on wiring while the bike is powered on or charging.

  • Stop and contact support if you are unsure.

What This Issue Means

This issue occurs when the battery does not switch off after holding the battery power button.

In some cases, the battery cover may interfere with the battery button operation.

Possible Causes

  • battery cover interfering with the battery button

  • battery button not operating correctly

  • battery power state issue

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1 – Check Whether the Battery Cover Is Interfering With the Button

Remove the battery from the bike using the key.

Carefully remove the battery cover and test the actual battery button underneath.

Press and hold the battery power button for 3–4 seconds.

If the battery powers off

The battery cover may have been interfering with the battery button.

Reinstall the cover carefully and test the battery again.

If no

Continue to Step 2.

If the issue clears

The battery cover may not have been aligned correctly. Monitor the bike during normal use.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 2.


Step 2 – Perform the Battery Power-Off Procedure

Follow these steps exactly:

  1. Turn the bike on.

  2. Put the bike into a pedal assist mode above level 1 or “Off”.

  3. Hold a brake lever.

  4. Hold down the throttle while slightly releasing the brake lever.

  5. Allow the bike to move forward slightly.

  6. Release the brake and throttle.

  7. Press and hold the power button on the handlebar control pad to turn the bike off.

  8. Press and hold the battery power button for 3–4 seconds.

If the battery powers off

The battery power state may have reset successfully.

Monitor the bike during normal use.

If no
