What This Error Means
E177 indicates the bike entered a prohibited area configured within the Aventon app.
If prohibited areas are enabled and the bike enters a restricted zone, PAS will be cut off and the error code will appear.
Possible Causes
- prohibited areas were enabled in the Aventon app and the bike entered one of the specified areas
- bug in the current ECU software version
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1 – Check Whether the Bike Entered a Prohibited Area
Check whether the bike attempted to enter a prohibited area configured in the Aventon app.
If yes
The bike triggered the prohibited area setting.
Decide whether the prohibited area feature should remain enabled.
If no
Disable the prohibited area feature in the Aventon app.
After disabling the feature, restart the bike and check whether the E177 code remains.
If the issue clears
The issue was likely caused by the prohibited area setting being activated.
If the issue remains
Update the ECU software to the latest version using the Aventon app.
Step 2 – Decide Whether the Prohibited Area Feature Should Remain Enabled
Determine whether you want to continue using the prohibited area feature.
If yes
Remove the bike from the prohibited area.
After leaving the restricted area, restart the bike and check whether the E177 code remains.
If no
Disable the prohibited area feature in the Aventon app.
After disabling the feature, restart the bike and check whether the E177 code remains.
If the issue clears
The issue was caused by the bike entering a restricted geofenced area.
If the issue remains
Update the ECU software to the latest version using the Aventon app.
Step 3 – Update the ECU Software
Update the ECU software to the latest version using the Aventon app.
After the update completes, restart the bike and check whether the E177 code remains.
If the issue clears
The issue was likely caused by an ECU software bug.
If the issue remains
Please contact support for further diagnosis.
