This article explains how to troubleshoot the “UI is Damaged” display message on Aventon mid drive eBikes.

Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1 – Confirm the Bike Powers On
Power the bike on and check whether:
the display turns on
the bike responds normally

If yes
Continue to Step 2.
If no

If the issue clears
Monitor the bike during future rides.
If the issue remains
Continue to Step 2.
Step 2 – Install and Open the SynerGE App
This process requires the SynerGE App by Aventon.
Open the SynerGE App and follow the prompts to generate a new pairing QR code.
If yes
Once the QR code is generated:
save the QR code image
continue to Step 3
If no
If you cannot generate the QR code:
contact support before continuing
If the issue clears
Monitor the bike during future use.
If the issue remains
Continue to Step 3.
Step 3 – Pair the Bike to the Aventon App
Using the Aventon App:
scan the newly generated QR code
pair the app to the bike
ensure the bike is powered on during pairing
If the bike is not nearby:
use another device to display the QR code image
scan the QR code using your phone
If yes
If the bike pairs successfully:
continue to Step 4
If no
Retry the pairing process carefully.
If pairing still fails:
contact support with screenshots and photos
If the issue clears
The issue may have been caused by corrupted pairing information.
If the issue remains
Continue to Step 4.
Step 4 – Open “More Settings” in the Aventon App
Once the bike is paired:
open the Aventon App
go to “More Settings”
Locate the “Update Firmware” option.
If yes
Continue to Step 5.
If no
If the menu does not appear:
restart the app
reconnect the bike
retry pairing if required
If the issue clears
Monitor the bike during future rides.
If the issue remains
Continue to Step 5.
Step 5 – Update the Firmware
Select:
“Update Firmware”
then press “Start Update”
Allow the update process to complete fully.
Do not:
power the bike off
close the app
disconnect the phone during the update
If yes
Once the update finishes successfully:
restart the bike
check whether the “UI is Damaged” message is gone
If no
Retry the firmware update.
If the update repeatedly fails:
contact support with screenshots of the error

The issue was likely caused by outdated or corrupted firmware.

Step 6 – Check Whether the Message Still Appears
After updating:
power the bike off
wait 10 seconds
power the bike back on
