Aventon Mid Drive – “UI is Damaged” Display Issue TroubleshootingUpdated 2 days ago

This article explains how to troubleshoot the “UI is Damaged” display message on Aventon mid drive eBikes.

Use this article if your bike:

  • shows the message “UI is damaged”

  • cannot connect correctly to the Aventon App

  • displays pairing issues

  • requires a new QR code for app connection

  • cannot complete firmware updates

If anything looks unsafe or the display is physically damaged, stop using the bike and contact support before continuing.


Before You Start

Please prepare the following:

  • order number or proof of purchase

  • Aventon model

  • photo of the “UI is Damaged” message

  • photo or video of the issue

  • confirmation of whether the bike powers on

  • confirmation of whether the display turns on

  • confirmation of whether the motor engages

  • confirmation of whether the battery charges

  • confirmation of whether the issue appeared after charging, riding, transport, storage, water exposure, impact, modification, or third-party repair

  • photos of any visible damage

Safety Warnings

  • Do not continue riding if the display behaves unpredictably or does not function correctly.

  • Do not open the display or sealed electrical components.

  • Do not work on wiring while the bike is powered on or charging.

  • Stop and contact support if you are unsure.


What This Issue Means

The “UI is Damaged” message means the bike may not be able to operate correctly until the display and app connection are restored.

The bike may:

  • lose app connectivity

  • require a new QR code for pairing

  • require a firmware update

  • corrupted app pairing information

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1 – Confirm the Bike Powers On

Power the bike on and check whether:

  • the display turns on

  • the bike responds normally

  • the “UI is Damaged” message appears

If yes

Continue to Step 2.

If no

Please contact our support team with the photos/videos listed below so we can review the next step.

If the issue clears

Monitor the bike during future rides.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 2.


Step 2 – Install and Open the SynerGE App

This process requires the SynerGE App by Aventon.

Open the SynerGE App and follow the prompts to generate a new pairing QR code.

If yes

Once the QR code is generated:

  • save the QR code image

  • continue to Step 3

If no

If you cannot generate the QR code:

  • contact support before continuing

If the issue clears

Monitor the bike during future use.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 3.


Step 3 – Pair the Bike to the Aventon App

Using the Aventon App:

  • scan the newly generated QR code

  • pair the app to the bike

  • ensure the bike is powered on during pairing

If the bike is not nearby:

  • use another device to display the QR code image

  • scan the QR code using your phone

If yes

If the bike pairs successfully:

  • continue to Step 4

If no

Retry the pairing process carefully.

If pairing still fails:

  • contact support with screenshots and photos

If the issue clears

The issue may have been caused by corrupted pairing information.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 4.


Step 4 – Open “More Settings” in the Aventon App

Once the bike is paired:

  • open the Aventon App

  • go to “More Settings”

Locate the “Update Firmware” option.

If yes

Continue to Step 5.

If no

If the menu does not appear:

  • restart the app

  • reconnect the bike

  • retry pairing if required

If the issue clears

Monitor the bike during future rides.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 5.


Step 5 – Update the Firmware

Select:

  • “Update Firmware”

  • then press “Start Update”

Allow the update process to complete fully.

Do not:

  • power the bike off

  • close the app

  • disconnect the phone during the update

If yes

Once the update finishes successfully:

  • restart the bike

  • check whether the “UI is Damaged” message is gone

If no

Retry the firmware update.

If the update repeatedly fails:

  • contact support with screenshots of the error

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by outdated or corrupted firmware.

Continue monitoring the bike.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 6.


Step 6 – Check Whether the Message Still Appears

After updating:

  • power the bike off

  • wait 10 seconds

  • power the bike back on

Check whether:

  • the display operates normally

  • the “UI is Damaged” message still appears

If yes

If the message still appears:

  • please contact our support team with the photos/videos listed below so we can review the next step

If no

The issue has been resolved.

Continue monitoring the bike during future rides.

If the issue clears

The firmware update and app reconnection likely restored the display communication.

If the issue remains

Contact support.


When To Contact Support

Please contact support if:

  • the “UI is Damaged” message remains after updating firmware

  • the bike cannot pair to the app

  • the QR code cannot be generated

  • the firmware update fails

  • the display does not power on

  • the bike does not operate normally

  • there is visible damage

  • the bike has been exposed to water, impact, modification, or third-party repair
