  • becomes hot during riding or charging

If you are unsure about any step or anything looks unsafe, stop and contact support before continuing.

Before You Start

Please prepare the following before troubleshooting:

  • your order number

  • confirmation of whether the issue started after riding, charging, transport, storage, water exposure, impact, crash, modification, or third-party repair

  • photos of any visible damage

Safety Warnings

  • Do not continue riding if the bike has a persistent error code.

  • Do not continue riding if there is visible damage, overheating, smoke, or a burning smell.

  • Do not open sealed electrical components.

  • Do not work on wiring while the bike is powered on or charging.

  • Stop and contact support if you are unsure about any step.

What This Error Means

The W07 error means the bike has detected high temperature battery operation protection.

This can happen if:

  • the ambient temperature is too high

  • the battery may be damaged

  • the eBike has been overloaded for an extended period of time

Possible Causes

Possible causes include:

  • high ambient temperature

  • battery warning or battery fault

  • prolonged heavy load on the eBike

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1 – Stop Riding and Allow the Battery to Cool

Stop riding the bike.

If your battery is externally removable, remove the battery from the bike.

Place the battery in an environment between:

  • -20°C to 45°C

Leave the battery for approximately 2 hours before restarting the bike.

After waiting, reinstall the battery if removed and power the bike back on.

If the W07 error code clears:

  • continue to Step 2 to help prevent the issue from returning

If the W07 error code remains visible after the battery has cooled:

  • continue to Step 3

If the issue clears

The battery protection system was likely responding to high operating temperature or prolonged load.

Continue monitoring the bike during normal use.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 3.

Step 2 – Reduce Heavy Load on the eBike

Check whether the bike has recently been used under heavy load conditions, including:

  • prolonged hill climbing

  • extended high-speed riding

  • carrying heavy loads for long periods

To help reduce battery temperature during riding:

  • reduce riding speed

  • pedal while climbing hills

  • take short breaks during prolonged climbs

  • keep the bike within recommended load capacities

If the bike was being heavily loaded:

  • follow the preventative measures above

  • continue monitoring the bike during normal riding

If the issue occurred during normal riding conditions:

  • continue to Step 3

If the issue clears

The battery protection system may have activated due to prolonged load or heat buildup during riding.

Continue monitoring the bike.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 3.

Step 3 – Check Whether the Error Persists

Turn the bike off completely.

Wait approximately 30 seconds.

Turn the bike back on and check whether the W07 error is still displayed.

If the error code remains after restarting:

  • stop using the bike

  • please contact our support team with the photos and videos listed below so we can review the next step

If the error code no longer appears:

  • monitor the bike during normal riding and charging

  • if the error returns repeatedly, contact support

If the issue clears

The battery protection system may have temporarily activated due to heat or prolonged riding load.

Continue monitoring the bike.

If the issue remains

Please contact support.

When To Contact Support

Please contact support if:

  • the W07 error remains after completing the steps above

  • the battery does not charge

  • the bike does not power on

  • the display does not turn on

  • the motor does not engage

  • there is visible damage

  • the issue started after water exposure, transport damage, impact, crash, modification, or third-party repair

  • you are unsure how to safely complete any step

If the issue remains after this step, please contact our support team and include the photos/videos listed below.

What To Send Support

Please send the following:

  • your order number

  • your Aventon model

  • a photo or video of the W07 error code

  • a photo of the display

  • a photo of the battery area

  • photos of any visible damage

  • confirmation of whether the bike powers on

  • confirmation of whether the battery charges

  • confirmation of whether the display turns on

  • confirmation of whether the motor engages

  • confirmation of whether the issue started after storage, transport, water exposure, impact, crash, modification, or third-party repair

  • confirmation of which troubleshooting steps you have already completed
