What This Error Means

The W08 error means the bike has detected motor lock protection.

This can happen if the rear wheel cannot rotate freely due to an obstruction or interference.

Possible Causes

Possible causes include:

  • obstruction preventing the rear wheel from rotating freely

  • interference involving the tyre

  • interference involving the spokes

  • interference involving the hub

  • interference involving the brake

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1 – Power Off the Bike

Turn the bike off completely before inspecting the rear wheel area.

Do not continue troubleshooting while the bike is powered on.

If yes

If the bike is fully powered off:

  • continue to Step 2

If no

If the bike does not power off normally:

  • stop troubleshooting

  • contact support

If the issue clears

If the error clears after restarting later:

  • monitor the bike during normal riding

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 2.

Step 2 – Inspect the Rear Wheel for Obstructions

Inspect the rear wheel carefully for anything preventing it from rotating freely.

Check the following areas for visible interference or obstruction:

  • tyre

  • spokes

  • hub

  • brake area

If safe to do so, slowly rotate the rear wheel by hand and check whether it moves freely.

Remove any obvious obstruction if it is safe and accessible.

Restart the bike after completing the inspection.

If yes

If you found and removed an obstruction:

  • restart the bike

  • check whether the W08 error has cleared

If no

If you cannot find an obstruction or the wheel still does not rotate freely:

  • continue to Step 3

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by an obstruction or interference preventing the rear wheel from rotating normally.

Continue monitoring the bike during normal use.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 3.

Step 3 – Check Whether the Error Persists

Turn the bike back on and check whether the W08 error code is still displayed.

If yes

If the W08 error remains:

  • stop using the bike

  • please contact our support team with the photos and videos listed below so we can review the next step

If no

If the W08 error no longer appears:

  • monitor the bike during normal riding

  • if the error returns, contact support

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by temporary wheel interference or obstruction.

Continue monitoring the bike.

If the issue remains

Please contact support.

When To Contact Support

Please contact support if:

  • the W08 error remains after completing the steps above

  • the rear wheel does not rotate freely

  • there is visible damage

  • the bike does not power on

  • the display does not turn on

  • the motor does not engage

  • the issue appears to involve the motor, hub, brake, connector, cable, controller, or internal wiring

  • the bike has been exposed to water, impact, crash damage, transport damage, modification, or third-party repair
