  • confirmation of whether the issue started after transport, storage, software update, water exposure, impact, modification, or third-party repair

  • photos of any visible damage

Safety Warnings

  • Do not continue riding if the bike has a persistent error code or unsafe shifting behaviour.

  • Do not force gear changes.

  • Do not open sealed electrical components.

  • Do not work on wiring while the bike is powered on or charging.

  • Stop and contact support if you are unsure about any step.

What This Error Means

The W110 error means the E-Shift system requires reconfiguration.

This can happen when the reference position of the E-Shifter is incorrect.

Possible Causes

Possible causes include:

  • incorrect E-Shift reference position

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1 – Shift the E-Shift System to the Highest-Speed Gear

While slowly rotating the crank, press the “+” shift button repeatedly.

Continue shifting until the derailleur reaches the highest-speed gear and the E-Shift system can no longer shift further.

If yes

If the E-Shift reaches the highest-speed gear position:

  • continue to Step 2

If no

If the E-Shift does not respond or cannot reach the highest-speed gear:

  • please contact our support team with the photos and videos listed below so we can review the next step

If the issue clears

The issue may have been caused by an incorrect E-Shift reference position.

Continue monitoring the bike during normal use.

If the issue remains

Continue to Step 2.

Step 2 – Reconfigure the E-Shift in the Aventon App

Pair the bike to the Aventon app.

In the app:

  1. Open More Settings

  2. Select E-Shift

  3. Select Reconfigure

Follow the prompts in the app to complete the reconfiguration process.

After reconfiguration:

  • restart the bike

  • test the E-Shift system again

  • check whether the W110 error remains

If yes

If the W110 error clears:

  • continue monitoring the E-Shift system during normal riding

If no

If the W110 error remains:

  • repeat Step 1 and Step 2 once more

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by an incorrect E-Shift reference position or calibration issue.

Continue monitoring the bike.

If the issue remains

Please contact support.

Step 3 – Check Whether the Issue Persists

After repeating the reconfiguration process, test whether the E-Shift system operates normally.

Check whether:

  • the gears shift correctly

  • the W110 error remains

  • the E-Shift system responds consistently

If yes

If the issue still remains:

  • stop using the E-Shift system

  • please contact our support team with the photos and videos listed below so we can review the next step

If no

If the issue no longer appears:

  • continue monitoring the bike during normal riding

If the issue clears

The issue was likely related to E-Shift calibration or reference positioning.

Continue monitoring the bike.

If the issue remains

Please contact support.

When To Contact Support

Please contact support if:

  • the W110 error remains after completing the steps above

  • the E-Shift system does not respond correctly

  • the bike does not power on

  • the display does not turn on

  • there is visible damage

  • the issue appears to involve the E-Shift system, derailleur, controller, connector, cable, or internal wiring

  • the bike has been exposed to water, crash damage, impact, transport damage, modification, or third-party repair

  • you are unsure how to safely complete any step

If the issue remains after this step, please contact our support team and include the photos/videos listed below.
