What This Error Means

E32 indicates a communication issue between the display, battery, and mid-drive unit.

The issue may be caused by:

  • poor communication signal output
  • damaged wiring or connectors
  • internal open circuits
  • damaged display, harness, battery terminal, or mid-drive components

Possible Causes

  • no communication signal output from the display to the mid-drive unit
  • poor connection between the mid-drive unit and display and/or battery
  • damaged cable between the mid-drive unit and display
  • damaged battery terminal cable
  • worn cable
  • broken connector
  • internal open circuit

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1 – Disconnect, Inspect, and Clean the Components

Disconnect, inspect, and clean:

  • display
  • mid-drive unit
  • battery terminal
  • display harness

After reconnecting all components, restart the bike and check whether the E32 code remains.

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by a loose or dirty connection.

If the issue remains

Inspect the bike for visible damage to:

  • display
  • display harness
  • mid-drive unit
  • battery terminal
  • attached cables

Step 2 – Inspect for Visible Damage

Inspect the following components for visible damage:

  • display
  • display harness
  • mid-drive unit
  • battery terminal
  • attached cables

If the terminal or attached cable is damaged

Replace the battery terminal.

After replacement, restart the bike and check whether the E32 code remains.

If the mid-drive unit is damaged

Replace the mid-drive unit.

If the display is damaged

Replace the display.

After replacement, restart the bike and check whether the E32 code remains.

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by the damaged component that was replaced.

If the issue remains

Replace the display and display harness.

Step 3 – Replace the Display and Display Harness

Replace both:

  • the display
  • the display harness

After replacement, restart the bike and check whether the E32 code remains.

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by a communication failure involving the display system.

If the issue remains

Replace the mid-drive unit.

Step 4 – Replace the Mid-Drive Unit

Replace the mid-drive unit if:

  • the issue remains after replacing the display
  • the issue remains after replacing the display harness
  • the issue remains after reconnecting and cleaning connections
  • the issue remains after replacing damaged components

After replacement, restart the bike and check whether the E32 code remains.

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by a faulty mid-drive unit.

If the issue remains

Replace the battery and battery terminal.

Step 5 – Replace the Battery and Battery Terminal

Replace:

  • the battery
  • the battery terminal

After replacement, restart the bike and check whether the E32 code remains.

If the issue clears

The issue was likely caused by a faulty battery or battery terminal connection.

If the issue remains

Please contact support for further diagnosis.
