If you experience an Aventure battery that will not power off with a long press of the battery button, there is a sequence to fix this. (The batteries may or may not turn off on their own using the auto-power off setting)
It can be helpful to first have them remove the battery cover to test the actual battery button underneath the clear button in the cover.
If the battery still will not power off with a long press of the button, follow these instructions below:
- Turn the bike on
- Put the bike in one of the pedal assist modes (anything above 1 or "off")
- Hold a brake lever
- Hold down the throttle while releasing the brake slightly
- Allow the bike to lurch forward a few inches
- Let go of the brake and throttle
- Press and hold the button on the handlebar control pad to power off
- Then press and hold the battery power button for 3-4 seconds to power off the battery
