Dashboard controls

- Entered by short pressing the button 5 times
- Speed is limited to 6 km/h
- Short press again to exit this mode
Riding mode display
- E-SAVE lights up: Eco mode
- E-SAVE off: Sport mode
- E-SAVE flashing: Custom mode (in app)
SETTING UP THE SCOOTER
Body assembly
- Secure the scooter neck tube and open the kickstand.
- Connect the handlebar to the main line connector of the vertical tube and install the handlebar to the vertical tube.
- Confirm that the device powers on and off after assembly.
- Lock the screws on both sides alternately with the hexagon wrench from the package.
Handlebar screw tightening torque:
- 4–5 N·m
Folding
- Confirm that the kick scooter is powered off.
- Hold the vertical tube.
- Open the folding wrench.
- Align it to the mudguard hook position.
- Hook the hook under the dashboard to the rear end of the body.
- Press the buckle button on the mudguard when opening.
- After the hook under the dashboard separates from the folding buckle, straighten the vertical tube to lock the folded plate.
- Turn the folding wrench back.
Handling
- Fold the scooter, then hold the standpipe with one hand or both hands before transport.
CHARGING
Charger connection
- First open the charging port
- Plug the charging plug into the body charging port
- Then connect the power supply
- After charging is complete, fasten the charging port cover to prevent water intake
Charging cautions
- Do not charge when the charging port, charger, or power socket is wet
- Turn off the power before charging
- Only use the original charger provided by NIU
- Do not use any other type of charger
- Do not charge or continue using the battery if it is damaged or flooded
- Fasten the rubber plug of the charging port before or after charging
- Do not charge outdoors
- Do not ride while charging
PARKING
- Turn on the parking device after use and park the vehicle
- Turn on the parking device before use
FAST LOCKING
How to lock
- Connect the scooter to the installed NIU app via Bluetooth and activate the fast locking function in the app.
- Long press the On/Off button for 5 seconds to lock the scooter.
- The lock icon is displayed on the meter.
- The manual also shows an alarm when locking.
How to unlock
- Long press the On/Off button for 2 seconds to start the scooter.
- Click the Unlock button on the app interface to unlock the scooter connected to the app.
DOWNLOADING THE APP / ACTIVATION
- Scan the QR code and install the NIU E-Scooter App
- Log in and register
- Long press the button to power the scooter on
- The Bluetooth icon starts flashing
- In the app, go to Me > Device Binding > Bind with Bluetooth
- Connect the scooter through Bluetooth
- The scooter beeps when Bluetooth connects successfully
- The Bluetooth icon stops flashing and stays on once connected
- Activate the scooter according to the prompts in the app
- Learn the riding safety content for newbies before initial use
Important app notes
- A new scooter is inactive and locked in E-save mode until activation and the newbie teaching guide are completed
- The first account paired by Bluetooth becomes the vehicle owner
- If the owner account changes, Bluetooth pairing must be reset
- The original owner account must be unbound before changing account connection
- Mobile phone requirements shown in the manual:
- Bluetooth 4.2 or above
- iOS 9.0 or above
- Android 5.0 or above
ARE YOU READY? – BEFORE RIDING
Before riding:
- Ensure the steering system and folding system are working properly
- Make sure all components are tightly secured
- Check that the wheel axle is fastened to the body
- Confirm the wheel rotates normally
- Confirm the brake system works normally
- Check tyre pressure before riding
- Recommended tyre pressure: 45–50 psi
- Check wear of the tyres and brake pads
- If wear is serious and replacement is needed, contact the dealer promptly
RIDING THE SCOOTER
- Turn on the power and check the power indicator.
- Stand on the pedal with one foot and push back with the other foot.
- When the scooter is sliding, place both feet stably on the pedal and gently press the throttle twistgrip.
- The throttle starts working above 4 km/h.
- Release the throttle twistgrip and use energy recovery to decelerate.
- Emergency braking requires a powerful grip on both sides of the brake levers.
- During turns, the body should lean slightly in the direction of the turn, and the handlebar should be turned slowly.
Additional riding notes
- The risk of fall injuries is present during practice
- Wear a helmet and protectors throughout practice
- Deceleration can be adjusted through energy recovery in the app
RIDING SAFETY
The manual’s riding safety section includes these points:
- Read the manual carefully before riding
- Follow local laws and regulations
- The scooter is both a transportation and recreational tool
- Ride in relatively closed and flat road environments where possible
- Stay alert and keep proper speed
- Maintain a safe distance from others and vehicles
- Be aware of surroundings and ride slowly on unfamiliar terrain
- Respect pedestrians’ right of way
- Alert pedestrians when passing from behind
- Slow down when passing pedestrians
- Pass pedestrians from the left where applicable
- When facing pedestrians, keep right and slow down
- Take time to learn the basics to avoid serious accidents in the first months
Additional safety notes
- Do not lend the scooter to someone who cannot operate it safely
- Before lending it to others, make sure the rider has read the manual and learned the novice guidance
- Remind riders to wear a helmet and protectors
- Before each ride, check the condition of the scooter
- Stop using it if parts are loose, damaged, tyres are flat or excessively worn, battery life decreases significantly, or the scooter shows abnormal noises or alarms
- Keep the original packaging in case return or repair is needed in the future
- If non-original packaging is used, responsibility for transport damage and related extra logistics costs remains with the user
