Overview
The Segway Ninebot F3 and F3 Pro are electric kick scooters designed for urban commuting. This guide covers setup, activation, controls, features, and key safety information.
Safety & Requirements
- Minimum age: 14+
- Minimum height: 140 cm
- Always wear:
- Helmet
- Elbow pads
- Knee pads
The Segway Mobility App contains additional safety warnings and instructions that form part of the official user materials and should be reviewed before riding.

- Charger
- Allen keys (2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm)
- Screws
Note: Keep the original packaging for at least 15 days.
Assembly Instructions
- Unfold the scooter
- Raise the stem and close the quick-release lever until the folding latch reaches the bottom.
- Ensure the lever is securely locked.
- Install the handlebar
- Insert the handlebar and cables into the stem with the headlight facing forward.
- Secure with four screws using a 4 mm Allen key (tightening torque: 9 ± 1 N·m).
- Final setup
- Remove the scooter from the box, place it on the ground, and unfold the kickstand.
Important:
- Power off the scooter before assembly
- Do not wrap the brake cable around the stem
Activation (Required Before First Use)
If the scooter is not activated:
- It will continue beeping when turned on
- Speed is limited to 15 km/h
Activation Steps
- Download the Segway Mobility App
- Charge the scooter briefly (approximately 3 seconds) to activate the battery
- Power on the scooter
- Scan the QR code or use “Search vehicle” in the app to pair
- Follow instructions in the app and complete activation
After activation:
- Default speed mode is Drive (D) mode
Controls and Functions
Main Controls
- Power Button / Headlight
- Press to power on
- Hold for 2 seconds to power off
- Press to cycle headlight modes: On → Auto → Off
- Mode Switching Button
- Switch between speed modes
- Throttle
- Twist/press to accelerate
- Brake Lever
- Used for braking
- Bell Button
- Activates the bell
- Direction Indicator Buttons
- Press left/right to activate indicators
- Press again to turn off
- Hold for 2 seconds to activate/deactivate hazard lights
- Custom Button
- Default: Hill-Hold Assist
- Can be customised via the app
Hill-Hold Assist
- Locks the drive wheel when the scooter is fully stopped
- Prevents the scooter from moving when throttle is applied
- Press again to disengage
- Can also be activated by holding the brake lever for 3 seconds
Dashboard Indicators
The dashboard displays:
- Headlight status
- Bluetooth connection
- Trip distance
- Battery level (red when below 10%)
- Traction Control System (TCS) status
- Time
- External battery level (if installed)
- Direction indicators
- Current speed
- Remaining range
- Warning indicator (number of detected errors)
Speed Modes

Important:
- Speed limits vary by model/version
- Some F3 Pro variants are limited to 20 km/h in Sport mode
App Features

Energy Recovery (Regenerative Braking)
Function Overview
- Activated when the throttle is released
- Creates resistance via the motor to slow the scooter
- Adjustable levels: Off / Weak / Strong
- Default setting: Off
Important Safety Notes
- Assists braking but does not replace the brake system
- Always use the brake lever to stop safely
- Requires practice before use
- Use caution on downhill terrain (gravity may still cause acceleration)
- Not active in cruise control mode
- Status is only visible in the app (not on dashboard)
- Remains enabled until manually turned off in the app
Security Features
CodeLock
- Enabled via app (digital or pattern password)
- Digital password: 4 digits
- Pattern password: 4–8 directional inputs
- Maximum of 3 incorrect attempts before screen powers off
- Continued incorrect attempts trigger an alert
AirLock
- Bluetooth-based unlocking
- Automatically connects when phone is nearby
- Requires passcode setup first via the app
Lighting
- Headlight modes: On / Auto / Off
- Headlight and tail light remain on in Walk Mode
- Front position lamp can be controlled via the app (select models only)
Battery Information
- Displays remaining battery level on dashboard
- External battery supported (sold separately)
- External battery level shown when installed
- Charging features configurable via the app
